- Flu and Covid vaccination consent forms are going home with your child. If you would like for your child to take either of these vaccinations, please fill out the form and return it to your child's homeroom teacher by Thursday, October 19, 2023.

Palmetto Elementary: The coke fundraiser money and order forms will be due to the office on Thursday, October 19, 2023. If you need additional order forms, please contact the office.
25% of the proceeds will go toward employee appreciation, and the remaining 75% will be used for classroom/school resources.

Palmetto Elementary: Today, we conducted a Practice Lockdown Drill. We will do this periodically throughout the school year. This type of drill secures the school building and safely shelters all students, staff, and visitors inside the building. The purpose of this drill is to keep the students safe from any danger outside or inside the building.
Our teachers and students did an excellent job! A special thanks to the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office for helping us keep our babies safe!

Palmetto Elementary updates:
- On Tuesday, October 3, 2023, Mobile Market will be at Palmetto Elementary from 10:00 am. to 12:00 noon.
- On Friday, October 6, 2023, students may wear a shirt and jeans for a bag of candy. Please attempt to get candy with no peanuts since we have students with peanut allergies.
- October 9 - 11, 2023 is fall break for all SLPSB students. Students will return to campus on Thursday, October 12, 2023.
- The COKE FUNDRAISER is still currently going on. If you need additional order forms, please contact the office. Money and order forms will be due to the office on Thursday, October 19, 2023.
- The Drugs Don't Make Sense Penny Drive will run from October 2, through October 26, 2023. Turn in your pennies to your child's homeroom teacher. The homeroom class that collects the most weight in pennies will receive a Raising Cane's party.

- Pre-K will celebrate grandparent's day on September 27, 2023 at 8:15 am. in the cafeteria.
- School spirit store orders are coming in, and we are sending them home with students as we are receiving them.

- St. Landry Parish School Board uniform policy with regard to outerwear states that "Outerwear with a hood is not allowed." This applies to sweatshirts, sweaters, and lightweight jacket/windbreaker/coats.
- Knit caps (Beanie), without a face covering, ear flaps, or poms, is allowed as head gear and must be removed when entering school buildings/classrooms.

Palmetto Elementary: Today, we will have early dismissal for staff professional learning. Car riders will dismiss at 12:05 pm. and bus riders will dismiss at 12:20 pm.
(Cell Phones/Electronic Devices are Not Allowed on school campus). According to the St. Landry Parish School Board's Student handbook, no student, unless authorized by the school principal or his/her designee, shall use or operate any electronic telecommunication device, including but not limited to cell phones in any school building, on the grounds thereof, or in any school bus . A violation of these provisions may be grounds for disciplinary action, including but not limited to:
Confiscation of cell phone, Parent notification, Parent must retrieve device, and Option to use Detention and/or Suspension.
All St. Landry Parish Public schools will have an early dismissal on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, to facilitate professional learning opportunities. Please be attentive to communication from your child's school, as they will provide you with the precise dismissal times. These times may vary slightly from school to school. If your child typically rides the bus, please ensure someone is available at home to receive them upon their early return. If your child is a car rider, please adhere to the specific car rider dismissal time communicated by the school to ensure a smooth pick-up process. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
