Opelousas High School will be featured on GMA's Cool Schools - Students in Ms. George's Chemistry Class at OHS participated in a pumpkin project which will be featured on GMA Cool Schools on November 4th between 6:30 AM and 6.40 AM. Please tune in!

JAG students at North Central High were introduced to Project-Based Learning through the implementation of an "All About Me” project. The project consisted of a copy of a Louisiana License Plate, which was loaded digitally in google classroom for the students. Students were given a rubric instructing them on what could be included on the License Plate. Students included images that consisted of symbols reflecting their personal life representing family, strengths, talents, an obstacle and a positive quote which was reflective of them. Upon completion of the License Plate, students had to write a speech relating to the plate and present it to the class using the JAG “GNAP” approach. #slpbuildingbridgesbeyondboundaries

Opelousas High students in Ms George's Chemistry class, with the help of family members, enjoyed carving pumpkins with periodic table element symbols of their choice. They also researched their element and created a presentation based on their research. #slpproud

Beau Chene FCCLA club is attended the Virtual Fall Rally conference while students are both at home as well at at school. Mia Davis is enjoying the breakout sessions and guest speakers! Congratulations to the eleven BCHS FCCLA members who won a State Affiliation Scholarship to help pay their dues for this year! Thanks to the ULL Hospitality department for partnering with La State FCCLA to make this possible. Mia Davis will preside over our FCCLA Southern Region meeting as President in January 2021. #slpproud

Students in the automotive class at Washington Career & Tech installed new tires on the rims of a trailer. The students learned how to properly use equipment in the shop to rotate and balance tires. #slpbuildingbridgesbeyondboundaries

Students at Washington Career & Tech rewired a green machine (kids toy) from 2 wheel to 4 wheel drive. The students installed a motor on each front wheel. This class project utilized meter usage and schematic drawing. #slpbuildingbridgesbeyondboundaries
