MACA IS ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THE 2022-2023 SCHOOL YEAR

Magnet Academy for Cultural Arts is accepting applications for the 2022-2023 school year in the art areas of creative writing, dance, instrumental music, theatre, visual arts, and vocal music. Students who are entering grades 7-12 and are zoned for a St. Landry Parish school are eligible to apply. Click the headline link to apply.

Apply to Become a Magnet Academy of Biomedical Sciences Student

Magnet Academy of Biomedical Sciences is now taking applications. Applicants must be in the 8th or 9th grade. Please have the following documents available to upload with your application:
(1) two letters of recommendation from a STEM teacher and administrator/counselor/JAG specialist (recommendation form attached)
(2) most recent report card and any test scores you think will strengthen your application

Morning Car-Rider Drop-off Update

Beginning, Monday, November 15th, the morning car-rider line will begin lining up at the front the school (west side). This is the same location as the after-noon pick up area. The drop-off time is NOT changing, but the drop-off location is.

Legacy of Charles Drew High School Honored

Ms. Williams was pleased to receive a Dr. Charles Drew portrait and National Honor Society Charter document from Mrs. Brenda Hardy, a former student and teacher of Charles Drew High School. Central Middle School will always recognize and honor the legacy left behind of this great school.

Learning Beyond the Bell

The St. Landry Parish School Board is pleased to announce Learning Beyond The Bell--Academic and Enrichment Program - a yearlong after-school learning program designed to enrich the academic and extracurricular life of our kindergarten - 12th-grade students.

The goal is to improve critical foundational skills in all core content areas. In addition, we will offer enrichment opportunities that will enable students to take virtual field trips, learn more about science and technology, engage in social living projects, play sports, and develop an appreciation for art, theater, music, and more.

Dates: October 2021 - May 2022 (start dates forthcoming)

Days: Monday - Thursday

Hours: immediately after school (3:10 p.m. - 5:10 p.m.)
